Newtown, PA – The first ever Newtown Community Health Fair is a free event open to the public and will be held on May 2, 2015 from 9-1pm. The fair will feature screenings for Oral Abnormalities (Oral Cancer), blood pressure, stroke and heart attack, as well as a Red Cross Blood Drive. The event is sponsored by Newtown Dentistry for Kids, Newtown Orthodontics and Newtown Dentistry for Adults in their new ‘Dental Home’ located on 46 Blacksmith Road in Newtown. This event will include live music by DJ Mr. Miami, games, and special appearances by Spiderman and Anna & Elsa from Disney’s Frozen. Healthy food options from Chick-fil A, Joey G’s, Zoe’s Kitchen and Smoothie King have been donated along with various raffle prizes by local businesses.
May’s Health Fair is inspired by the importance of screening for oral abnormalities during every routine visit for adults. According to the company OralID, creators of screening device, “every hour one American dies of oral cancer.” This startling statistic has led the team at Newtown Dentistry for Kids, Newtown Orthodontics and Newtown Dentistry for Adults to make this simple test available to as many people as possible. This occasion will give them that chance.
The Red Cross has also agreed to run a blood drive during the event. They will be joined by Mercer Bucks Cardiology performing blood pressure, stroke and heart attack screenings and The Wellness Center of Newtown offering nutritional counseling and massage.
“It will be a great, fun day for everyone! Many professionals are donating their time and expertise providing people important information about their health,” said Dr. Christine Landes, founder of Newtown Dentistry for Kids, Newtown Dentistry for Adults and Newtown Orthodontics. “We are fortunate to have such an amazing community to work in, and this is our chance to give back.”
